As for the time being, nothing is totally confirmed yet but the talks of a hotter Peugeot 308 GTi reaching the production lines soon enough are making its rounds on the internet. This new hot hatch is viewed to be Peugeot’s candidate in facing off other similar cars like Renault’s Megane RS 275 Trophy or even the SEAT Leon Cupra 280.

The Peugeot 308 GTi is said to be powered by a 1.6-liter four-cylinder engine that was developed by Peugeot and BWM several years ago. Not much information was released on this engine aside from it being turbocharged and has an output in the range of either 250 or 270-horsepower. Power is sent to the front wheels via a six-speed manual transmission and a limited-slip differential.

Equipped with upgraded brakes and stiffer suspension setup, the 308 GTi also gets some updates on the outside like an aggressive front bumper with large air intakes, chrome-plated exhaust pipes and 19-inch alloy wheels.

We might see this new GTi making an appearance at a major auto show somewhere in 2015, and there is also a possibility for Peugeot to make a wagon variant as well.
