Infiniti teases their latest concept ahead of Detroit AutoShow – the Q50 Eau Rouge Concept

Infiniti to Reveal Formula One Inspired Concept at Detroit Show

Infiniti has recently renamed their whole range of cars with the letter ‘Q’ – and as Infiniti promised, they intend on conglomerating their F1 experience and technology into their road going cars in the near future. With the release of the all-new Q50, Infiniti will be showcasing their compact executive sedan for the first time in America and in celebration of the all-new model, they will be bringing a conceptual design dubbed as the Eau Rouge Concept.

Based on the Q50 – the Eau Rouge Concept illustrates a rather menacing bodykit said to have been influenced from the company’s successful involvement in Formula 1 with Red Bull Racing. Although on the outlook of things, there is no sign of a serious racer from the compact executive sedan, but undoubtedly it should attract a more performance focused market.

Look into the details however and discover that only the roof and door panels remains unchanged from the production model of the Q50. From then onwards, the Eau Rouge Concept sports numerous carbon fibre parts including under-pan ground kits, front air splitter, side-skirts and diffuser to enhance the styling and performance of the compact executive sedan. At the same time, the roof panels are also replaced with carbon fibre to keep the centre of gravity of the car low down. The concept also comes fitted with a 21” lightweight forged alloy wheels and twin-piped sports exhausts system for an enhanced performance.

Infiniti’s Executive Design Director, Alfonso Albaisa said – “The design has a number of distinctive Formula One inspired touches.  In particular, the sculpted front wing assembly and the rear aerodynamic packaging take their cues from the RB9 race car”.

As of now – Infiniti has not said any words on the Eau Rouge’s powertrain, however we can very likely expect that when this study comes into production, the 3.7-litre V6 engine would have been fiddled with to produce a more appetising performance figures. More details will be coming through at the Detroit AutoShow soon. Till then, lets hope we can see this in the flesh here on our shores!
