Honda Strengthens Their Presence in Malaysia with the Opening of No.2 Line in Melaka!

Showing great support in the national automobile growth, Honda Malaysia further strengthens their commitment towards business in Malaysia through the opening of the No.2 Line at the Pegoh Plant in Alor Gajah, Melaka. Built 11 years after the No.1 Line started operational back in January 2003, the No.2 Line will be able to double the current production volume to 100,000 units annually, and produce 400 units daily.

The opening ceremony was also attended by distinguished guests-of-honor, Dato’ Sri Mustapa bin Mohamed, Minister of International Trade and Industry, Datuk Wira Hj. Md Yunos bin Husin representing the Melaka State Government, Mr. Shigeru Nakamura and Mr. Hiroshi Kobayashi, President and Chief Executive Officer of Asian Honda Motor Co., Ltd.

“We have been operating in Malaysia for more than 10 years in Malaysia and I am proud to note that our business has grown rapidly over these years”, said Mr. Kobayashi.

By developing skilled local capabilities and implementing advanced manufacturing technologies in this attractive and important market, we are positive that Malaysia will help achieve long-term growth of the Honda brand”, he added.

The new No.2 Line features state-of-the-art technologies like the Smart Welding Machine and Spray Robots to achieve high level of standards. The Multi Driving Tester for Vehicle Quality is also enhanced to ensure it is hybrid compatible to check on the IMA system and battery condition.

Honda is looking forward in assembling more vehicles for the growing Malaysian market, especially in the small models and hybrid segment which has experienced steady growth over the past couple of years. For the time being, Honda Malaysia assembles the City, Civic, CR-V, Accord, and both the Jazz Petrol and Hybrid at the Pegoh Plant.
