Porsche to Dominate the Endurance Scene with the Improved 2014 911 RSR!

The Porsche 911 RSR promised great potential as on its first appearance at the 2013 24 Hours of Le Mans, the RSR grabbed both the first and second place finishes in the GT-class, leaving behind competitors in cars like the 458 Italia and Corvette. Determined to keep the podium spot all to their own, the 991-based racer has been improved for 2014 and already showed its worth by grabbing the class win in the Daytona 24 Hour race.

The new 991 RSR now features a redesigned front end and a new rear wing, all to provide optimal aerodynamic balance for better stability on fast corners. The front suspension kinematics has been optimized for a more precise steering response and the car’s structural rigidity has also been improved.

“Last season, we strove constantly to develop the car further. The better weight distribution, iin particular, had a positive effect on performance. The 911 RSR is now more stable over the rear axle and gives the driver a greater sense of trust. This allows the driver to probe performance limits faster,” said driver Patrick Pilet.

The 470-horsepower 4.0-liter flat-six engine now gets a new air induction system that contributes a lot in reducing the effects of contamination on power output. The FT3 safety fuel tank with a lowered centre of gravity gives them improved filling under race conditions. The updated Porsche 991 RSR will be entering endurance races along with the new Porsche 919 Hybrid.
