HPD grants a supercharger kit for the CR-Z Sport Hybrid!

While the Honda CR-Z does have the sporty looks, this hybrid sports compact’s 122-horsepower is not really packing that much punch. Realizing this, Honda’s own Honda Performance Development (HPD) previewed a set of street performance parts for the CR-Z at last year’s SEMA Show, and the one recently introduced is the much awaited supercharger kit.

The HPD supercharger kit comes with an air-to-air intercooler, high-flow fuel injectors, an ECU calibrated to meet CARB AT-PZEV regulations with 91 octane fuel, a performance air filter system and the supercharger itself. With the kit, the CR-Z gains more than 70-horsepower as it pumps up the power to 197-horsepower.

As for the time being, the supercharger kit is available at Honda dealers across United States for both the 2013 and 2014 models. It comes with a price tag of USD 5,495 (RM 17,362) without the installation charges. But if one decides to install the kit at the dealership, they will also be offering a 5 year/60,000km Honda limited powertrain warranty.

But the supercharger kit is not the only upgrade that HPD could offer as they could also hook one up with sports dampers, coil springs with reduced ride height, 300mm diameter disc brakes as well as larger 18-inch wheels with Michelin Pilot Super Sports tires.
