Callaway cars, famed for tuning Chevrolets in the United States, has recently showcased a new performance variant of the already powerful Corvette. A few months back, the guys at Callaway teased their tuned Corvette, and said that it will have roughly 620hp and at least 813NM (600lb ft) of torque. Fast forward today, the actual car has actually been rated at 627hp and 827NM (610lb ft) of torque. Talk about underrating and overachieving, these guys nailed it.

To achieve these numbers, Callaway designed a new patent pending supercharger that has a newly designed intake manifold with three liquid-to-air intercooler. This, coupled with the supercharger cover that protrudes through the bonnet, further aids in cooling. Also new to the Callaway Corvette SC627 is a single acoustic chamber exhaust system.

As per the dyno graph, the Callaway Corvette achieves a peak power of 627hp at 6,400rpm, while the max torque of 827NM of torque is achieved at the same time as the stock Corvette, at 4,400rpm. The numbers are a healthy 167hp and 196NM (145lb ft) of torque over the standard Corvette.

Now that Callaway has made it official, production for the Callaway Corvette SC627 has begun, and some units are already being shipped to waiting customers. The price for the Callaway Corvette SC627 starts at $22,995 (RM 73,212), which includes the donor car. How soon before we’ll be able to see one of these on our local roads? Only time will tell.

Discovered the automotive scene by chance. Hooked on ever since. Can be found quite often in Sepang, just snapping photos and observing people.
