With Maserati turning 100 this year, the Italian automaker has come out with a stunning concept car as a part of their centenary celebration. Called the Alfieri, the 2 + 2 concept car made its debut at the Geneva Motor Show and is named after Alfieri Maserati, where back in 1914, started the Maserati company with the help of his four brothers.

The stunning Alfieri is inspired from various Maserati models like the 1953 A6 GCS-53, 1957 3500 GT, 1959 5000 GT, and the 1969 Indy. If the new Ghibli and the Quattroporte are giving out the impression of Maserati putting more focus on sporty sedans, this should be the piece to remind that Maserati has a great heritage in sports cars and grand tourers.

“The Alfieri is a transition point between 100 glorious years of history and the future that is opening up before us,” said Maserati design boss Lorenzo Ramaciotti. “I sincerely can’t say that we’ll see this car in production in two years, but I’m certain we’ll see something very similar”.

Under the skin of the Alfieri is a shortened version of the platform found in the current GranTurismo MC Stradale. The 4.7-liter V8 engine is lifted from the GranTurismo with 460-horsepower sent to the rear wheels via Maserati’s MC Shift automated manual transmission. The carbon ceramic disc brakes are also from the GranTurismo MC Stradale, combined nicely with blue Brembo brake calipers.
