Does the name Marussia ring a bell for any of you? Aside from being one of the players in Formula 1, Marussia is a Moscow-based supercar maker that made the B1 and B2 (no, not the B2 Stealth Bomber), and it is reported that the 3.5-liter V6 Cosworth engine-powered B2 was a hit that it was sold out in its initial production run back in 2012.

But we are receiving breaking news that despite such claims, apparently this Russian supercar builder has suspended their car-making operations. Formed in 2007 by former racing driver Nikolay Fomenko, they had also bought a stake in Formula 1 team Virgin Racing, which was then rebranded to Marussia F1 in 2012.

A spokeswoman for Marussia F1 had also confirmed the disbandment of the sports car firm. However, she also added that the F1 team was unaffected as it has been independently run for some time, where a separate entity called Marussia Communications has been running the team.

“There is no impact whatsoever on the Formula 1 team’s operation. There is no link between the two companies financially or technically,” said the spokeswoman.
