Global trend for engines these days are downsizing and turbocharging. This concept has been proven to work for many car manufacturers. Even Ferrari turbocharges their V8 engines, but fortunately for some, Ferrari’s V12 engines will remain naturally aspirated, according to CAR Magazine.

At the moment, the Ferrari FF uses a 6.3L V12 naturally aspirated engine which produces 651hp and 683NM of torque. A facelifted Ferrari FF could be launched in 2016, with a power bump up to 700hp. The other V12 powered Ferrari would be the F12 Berlinetta. The F12 Berlinetta is also expected to get the same treatment in exterior updates as well as an increase in power sometime in 2016 as well.

In order for Ferrari to keep their V12 models competitive without any form of forced inductions, they will be looking into ways to reduce weight of the new models. Ferrari could look into using carbon fibre roofs for upcoming models, like how BMW does for the M3. Besides carbon fibre, Ferrari will also improve their modular structure that will be stronger and lighter than what it currently is.

Ferrari will be more dependent on a new eight speed automatic gearbox to further enhance efficiency. Future models are also expected to have electric assisted power, like the LaFerrari.
