The dynamic duo of Chris Tan and Alan Wong have long made their name in the local motorsports scene and in the recent 2014 Malaysian Super Series Round 4, they demonstrated their worthiness once again by clinching the win in the Touring Production category. Despite making it look easy, they still had to face tonnes of challenges and opponents who were gunning for the win as well.

The weekend started very well for the RT-ROWE Pentagon Racing Team as their Honda Civic FD2R was in its best form for the race. With no faults occurring during the practice session, the team went on to clock a 2:33.084 during the qualifying session, securing them the pole position on the grid to start the race later on.

Although downpour soaked the 5.543km Sepang International Circuit earlier on, the circuit was pretty much dried up for the showdown. Feeling confident for the race, Alan Wong suited up to assume the role of the driver for the first stint of the 1-hour race.

As soon as the lights turned green, Alan immediately floored the FD2R as he was tightly pursued by two experienced veterans. Both running in Honda DC5s, Tommy Lee and Tony Teo gave great chase towards Alan and even traded positions a couple of times. Determined to bring back a win for the team, Alan reclaimed the top position and jumped into the pits right after the safety car went out.

With the wheels now under Chris Tan’s control, he took the car back into the circuit in no time and challenging the team to the top this time was a Toyota 86 from Wing Hin Motorsports. While the FD2R is known to have a lot more power than the 86, the nimble Toyota handles the corners better than the Honda. It took Chris a couple of laps to catch up with the 86 and after a battle of a few more corners, he finally managed to grab the lead.

With not much challenge after the overtaking, Chris went on to spread the gap and brought home a win for RT-ROWE Pentagon Racing Team after 21 laps of racing, with Kenny Lee in the 86 trailing 6 seconds behind.
