Act Quick! The Porsche 918 Is Almost Sold Out!

Well, start smashing piggy banks, as Porsche has announced that the stock of their top-of-the-line hybrid supercar is selling out very quick. Porsche has reportedly sold out slightly over 30 units of the planned 918 units in total. Planned production for the 918 Spyder has sold out through late March or early April, a tad bit earlier than the production was planned to end in July.

Very impressive for Porsche, considering that the 918 Spyder retails for a cool $850,000 (RM2.8m, before tax). Despite that, the Porsche 918 Spyder still retails cheaper than fellow competitors, like the Ferrari LaFerrari ($1.8m) and the McLaren P1 ($1.1m). Even more impressive, considering that potential buyers are required to fork out $200,000 as a deposit.

Andre Oosthuizen, Vice President of Marketing for Porsche North America did not disclose how many 918s are produced per month, but said that most units are already taken. “So if that’s anything to go by, it’s probably in the last and the final straight,” he said.
