Following the introduction of the Toyota Prius c into the Malaysian market since February 2012, over 4,000 units have seen its way into new ownership and for 2013, UMW Toyota has revealed a new variant of the Prius c, equipped with the TRD Sportivo package.
The Prius c gets an exclusive front bumper spoiler with distinctive Daytime Running Lights integrated into both corners, a black garnish on the front bumper nose for a more sportier appeal as well as the inclusion of side skirts and a TRD Sportivo emblem finds its way onto the rear door to help with visual differentiation.
The Prius c still maintains the same interrior, only it will now receive a new set of TRD Sportivo floor mats with blue stitching to match the Toyota hybrid colour theme. Unfortunatly, all TRD Sportivo accessories are currently not available for purchase separately.
No changes have been made under the hood for the Prius c; still maintaining the same Toyota Hybrid Synergy Drive which integrates the operation of a 1.5L petrol engine with an electric motor and Electronically Controlled Continuously Variable Transmission (E-CVT). And yes it still has EV mode.
However, In-Car Entertainment now comes in the form of a 2-DIN head unit with Bluetooth® connectivity, including an AUX-Jack as well as USB ports.
UMW has also included a few miscellaneous items as standard from January 2013 onwards, and has included a bag hook found under the passenger headrest with spring-loaded hooks which can be retracted when not needed and can be had in many other Toyota models as well.
In addition, a luggage tray for the rear trunk space is also being provided, where it is made of a durable plastic material that’s waterproof for some added boot protection.
At current, the Toyota PRIUS c TRD Sportivo variant is only available in four colour choices: Lime White Pearl CS, Black Mica, Silver Metallic, and Super Red V and can be added with a few cost-options that include the Toyota Standard Solar Film, the new and improved 7″ touch-screen DVD-AVN (Audio-Visual Navigation) system and a Reverse Camera.
The PRIUS c TRD Sportivo is available for RM103,990 (OTR + Ins) – an additional RM6,690 over the standard Prius c, and comes with a Toyota’s standard vehicle warranty of 3-Years or 100,000 km (whichever comes first).
