TVR’s New Owner Will Bring the Brand Back into Production!

The famous British sports car maker TVR has gone through a rough patch of time these past few years, ever since the company was bought by Russian Nikolai Smolenski for £15 million (RM 62.6 million) back in 2004. Not only the new owner failed to produce any new cars, he also spoke about plans in using the brand name on wind turbines. Definitely not the best ending for a sporty brand like TVR.

Fortunately, that worrying fate is not going to take place as TVR has gone back to the hands of the Brits and promises to ‘carry forward the DNA’ of the brand.

“We’ve done a lot of background work. This was not a snap decision. We have the money to do it, and we have a unique collection of people with business acumen and passion”, said Les Edgar, a Surrey-based entrepreneur known best for developing video games and reintroducing Aston Martin into GT racing.

And to reassure that TVR will not suffer the same fate as what it did from the previous owner, Edgar told Top Gear that “we bought TVR for what it is, and we do not want to dilute that. We want to build on the DNA, and that’s unlikely to apply to anything but cars”.

Unfortunately due to non-disclosure agreements, he was not at liberty to discuss any further information on their future plans. But at least we know this: TVR is back in the right hands and we might see their re-emergence into the performance scene very soon.
