The Subaru BRZ STi is Set to be a Reality!

Toyota might have disappointed some hardcore fans of the 86 by not proceeding with the turbocharged variant, but that is not the end of the day. Coming in to the rescue is none other than their twin brother, the Subaru BRZ, and they sure have this great news to share to all the eager enthusiasts. After the long wait, Subaru had finally confirmed that the BRZ STi will be born.

Although announced in a semi-official way, the sneak peak images posted by Subaru on their official website could already be acknowledged as their way in saying “we are bringing in the STi for the BRZ”. Armed with a couple of teaser pictures like one showing the front grille with the iconic STi badge, we could say that it would not take long before this much-awaited car arrives.

Although Subaru had yet to release any type of facts or figures about the BRZ STi, some of the pointers might have been hinted when they unveiled the BRZ STi Concept sometime back. The Concept 2.0-liter flat-four engine is upgraded with Toyota’s D-4S direct injection technology, and some say that a turbocharger might also be fitted to raise the output to 280-horsepower.

Like all STis, this one is also finished with the iconic blue paint scheme and fitted with various STi goodies like the new lower front spoiler, the large rear wing, along with a carbon-fiber roof. Fitting nicely on the Concept are 18-inch alloy wheels with some sweet Brembo stopping power hiding behind them.

We pretty much like what we are seeing on the Concept, and surely Subaru will never disappoint. But how do you think the final product will be like – Turbocharged or NA? RWD or AWD?
