The Prancing Horse Returning to Le Mans in 2015?

We are already pretty excited in hearing that Porsche is returning to Le Mans in 2014, but it seems that someone is not going to let the Stuttgart auto maker steal the limelight. With a name that is more than synonymous to Formula 1, we are now hearing reports that Ferrari is considering a comeback into the world of endurance racing in 2015.

Ferrari had left Le Mans a long time ago in 1965 with nine wins around their belt. If the report from Auto Motor und Sport is accurate enough, we might be seeing the Prancing Horse brand return to Circuit de la Sarthe as early as 2015.

If they do return to Le Mans, Ferrari could not compete anywhere else except for the highest class available; the LMP1. That means the Italian exotic maker will be facing out some fierce competition from Audi and Toyota. Of course, one should not forget that Porsche is also putting their name on the line in this prestigious class too in 2014 onwards. We have also heard some hushes about Nissan and Honda showing interest in joining Le Mans in the future.

So if they somehow do appear on Circuit de La Sarthe, how will their racer look like? Some renderers have come out with their impression of Ferrari’s LMP1 racer’s looks like this one from Sasha Selipanovym, and we are pretty impressed with it. What are your thoughts on this?
