The Arabs Lands their First Supercar – The W Motors Lykan Hypersport

We do know that Arabs love to own luxury cars, and most of them will be the high-powered, European road demons like the Ferraris and Lamborghinis. But have we ever heard of a supercar originating from the Middle East itself? We will now with the all-new Lykan Hypersport from W Motors.

Making its debut at this year’s Qatar Auto Show, the Lykan is not like the other exotics filling the booths as it is touted as the first Arabian supercar. Housing a mid-mounted twin-turbocharged flat-six engine, the Lykan is said to have 750-horsepower and 737 lb/ft of torque in its disposal, giving it a 0-100 run in just 2.7 seconds and a top speed of 394km/h.

And like most supercars of today, the construction primarily uses carbon fiber, but that is not the most exotic material found in this supercar. The interior also incorporates precious items like diamond, gold and platinum, with the body being crafted in Italy. It has a 3D holographic display and high-tech dashboard, aside from having big names like Magna Steyr and RUF contributing in the construction of the Lykan Hypersport.

“Qatar is a perfect place to launch it because it is a country that loves what we are doing,” said W Motors co-founder Sari El Khalil, which he added that there will only be seven of such specimens being manufactured.

“We are choosing our customers carefully. It is the first Arab car; we want Arabs driving our car. We have gotten interest from India, we have gotten interest from Moscow, we have gotten interest from China,” he added.

So how much will this new supercar costs? For a new player in the scene, they are very bold to attach it with a price tag of USD 3.4 million (RM 10.56 million), far more expensive than the Bugatti Veyron Super Sports. Well, it seems that the Arab car will only be affordable to the Arabs themselves in that matter.
