So Close Yet So Far – 2013 Lamborghini Super Trofeo Asia Rnd.2 Race 2

Ready to tackle the second race lined ahead of them, team FXPrimus Aylezo is set to give out their best and show what they are really worth at Sepang International Circuit. Having clocked a 2:16.323 on the second qualifying session, they will start Race 2 on the eighth spot on the grid, being almost in the middle of the pack.

Even so, team FXPrimus Aylezo is not going to give up that easily and properly displayed the fighting spirit. As soon as the race started, Dilantha Malagamuwa jumped straight from eighth position into fifth just after the first couple of corners. Being more than familiar with the 5.543km circuit, Dilantha managed to defend the much needed position and continued the race in full power.

After fighting furiously with the opponents halfway into the race, team FXPrimus Aylezo’s machine dived into the pits where Zen replaced Dilantha behind the wheels. Fuelled with the will to win, Zen continued the team’s strong charge to the finish line, aiming to secure another podium finish.

The race was going great for the team and not only Zen managed to take the car a step further to fourth position, the final leg of the race also seen team FXPrimus Aylezo taking second position. But unfortunately, the team was hit by car No.9 at the rear right wheel three laps before the race finishes. Since then, the car’s alignment was gone and Zen now had to nurse the car properly in order to defend the third position.

But as much as they wanted another podium finish in Sepang, the damage on the rear right wheel worsened towards the end of the race and on the final lap, lost the position to car No.12 and was forced to settle with a fourth.

Obviously the team was not aiming to finish in such a position, especially when victory was so close in their grasp. But crossing the finish line is far better than having to settle with a DNF, especially when racing on home turf.
