National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) – the governing agency of vehicular safety in the States recently ranked the Tesla Model S as the safest vehicle ever rated in history, earning 5 star not only overall but also in every subcategory. An absolutely impressive achievement and at the same time, being an Electric Vehicle, the Tesla Model S quickly gained recognition, turning into something seriously desirable.
Knowing that its the safest car in the world gives the driver an absolute assurance of safety. However, one does not expect any to be brave enough to discover the car’s safety features and abilities. The owner of a silver Tesla Model S unknowingly got himself into a horrific accident nearby Long Island, California and prove to us that YES! The Model S is definitely one of the safest cars in the world.
Driving down the road through a cross junction – he was ‘T-boned’ by a Hyundai Elantra driven by a lady who blew a red light whilst on the phone, causing the Elantra to bounce off on the Model S and immediately spinning round into him again. Although he came out of the accident calm and unscratched, the other driver was taken by an ambulance to the nearest hospital, having suffered some serious injuries.
He was highly convinced that if he were to be driving in another car in the similar situation – the outcome would have been very different. In fact, the car took so much of the impact that the airbags didn’t even deploy! The accident caught the attention of Tesla themselves and immediately took the wrecked up Model S and arranged it for replacement. We have yet to see Tesla making its way to our country but we think its about time and we’d love to have a Tesla in Malaysia!
