Unveiled ahead of its LA Auto Show debut set for November – Porsche has just chopped off the roof of their 911 Turbo and Turbo S to complete their top-of-the-range model family. Set to tackle sunny weather markets, the cabrios are just as fast as the coupe variants with an added drama to get some wind in your hair while driving. Unlike Ferrari, Porsche has retained the soft-top roof that we have seen in previous generation 911s.

Sitting wider on the road by 1.1 inch to a standard Carrera 4, the Turbo variant gives the 991 an aggressive stance coupled with the highly loaded engine, home to the 3.8-litre twin-turbocharged flat 6 that inhabits 560bhp and good for a Zerotohundred sprint of 3.1 seconds (520bhp and 3.5 seconds for the Turbo). Top speed in both the Turbo and Turbo S variant is now 195mph, making it one of the fastest open top vehicles in the world!

The retractable roof is designed to keep the car’s coupe-like shape, with its lightweight magnesium frame, to ensure that the cabrio versions are as aerodynamic as possible. The roof can be open and closed in 13 seconds and just like its predecessor, it can be done with speeds up to 30mph. This enables the user some ease as and when the weather gets a little wet.

The new 911 Turbo and Turbo S is now for sale in Europe, although the US market will have to wait a little longer till the end of the year. The cabrio versions will be open for sale as early as next year and set to be about $12,000 more, against its Coupe brother. There is still no word on when these high powered cars will hit Malaysian market, however if it is launched next year, it is likely that both variants of coupe and cabrio will be unveiled together.
