Nissan Reveals their Updated 2014 GT-R NISMO GT500 Super GT Racer!

Honda is out with their NSX, and so did Lexus with the LF-CC in preparation for the 2014 Super GT series. Obviously Nissan would not want to be left behind in the game, so they followed suit with a newer version of their GT-R; the Nissan GT-R Nismo GT500.

Recently seen participating a shakedown session alongside the NSX-GT and the LF-CC, Nissan had worked closely with their motorsport partner NISMO to develop this new race car. Compared to the previous version, this new 2014-spec is now closely resembles its road-going version. NISMO also had to keep in mind that 2014 will also see some regulation changes on the GT500 class, aligning it closer to the German’s DTM touring car series.

For the time being, only the engine-related regulations are unique from each other. Performance-wise, the cars will still be pretty equal through the use of restrictors and other penalty systems. From next year onwards, the contenders of the GT500 class in Super GT will be powered by a 2.0-liter turbocharged four-cylinder engine, with the availability of being paired with a racing hybrid system.
