Nissan CEO Confirms Road-Bound GT-R Nismo in 2014!

The impressive and jaw-dropping Nissan GT-R might have terrorized several other auto marquees on circuits all over the world with its performance, and still does even after 5 years in production. Even so, after all those years, there had yet been a Nismo version for the GT-R ready to prowl the streets. The only GT-R Nismo that one could find now is only the GT3 spec racing car; but that is about to change with the confirmation of the road version of this terrifying machine.

This confirmation of this new GT-R variant comes after the opening of Nismo’s new headquarters over at Yokohama, and is announced by the brand’s CEO himself, Carlos Ghosn.

“It would be unthinkable for us to develop a range of Nismo road cars without including the GT-R. The standard road car is a global supercar and the GT-R’s performance on track reflects the passion and talents of the Nismo team. The GT-R Nismo will be special and I can’t wait to drive it”.

This GT-R Nismo is scheduled to make a debut in 2014 and although Nissan had yet to disclose any of its specifications, we do know that it will be based on the 2013 model. The 2013 GT-R could already make a century sprint in 2.7 seconds; who knows how speedy this new Godzilla would be after the guys from Nismo had thrown in their expertise into it?

Also included in the announcement is that Nissan is planning to make a comeback to the grueling 24 Hours of Le Mans in 2014 with an ‘all-new race car incorporating electric technology’.

“We will return to Le Mans with a vehicle that will act as a high-speed test bed in the harshest of environment for both our road car and race car electric vehicle technology”, said the CEO.
