With the 2013 Formula 1 season kicking in, we are only days away in celebrating the 15 years of the motorsport’s thrills and spills on our home turf. Truly a not-to-be-missed event for petrol, the Sepang International Circuit will again be rattled on the 22 – 24 March by these speed machines. And to mark this special milestone, SIC has commissioned Royal Selangor in coming out with the trophy for the 2013 Formula 1 PETRONAS Malaysian Grand Prix.
Known as Malaysia’s leading pewter brand, Royal Selangor will be responsible for the trophy’s design and construction, which they had designed and crafted them for 11 of the 15 years. Comprising eight faceted pillars forming a circle and mounted on a timber block, the entirely-pewter pillars symbolize Formula 1’s essence of speed and sound.
“This year’s trophy expresses the excitement of the Malaysian Formula 1 Grand Prix with the sights, sounds and exhilaration of the race that is reflected in its unique form. We are happy to be working with SIC again, especially for the 15th race. As a brand known for its heritage and craftsmanship, Royal Selangor is proud to be contributing to this milestone for Malaysia”, said Executive Director of Royal Selangor Marketing, Chen Tien Yue.
So if you had yet to get your tickets for this weekend’s race day, there is still time for you to do so. And mind you, the fast-paced action of the Formula 1 machines is not the only highlight of the day as international rock legends Guns N’ Roses will also be keeping the heat on after the race!
