New Ducati Offering Sees 795 Monster Equipped with ABS! (RM66,888 Nett)

In late 2011, Malaysia saw the introduction of the Ducati Monster 795, which was accompanied by the introduction of the Monster Art programme in mid 2012. For 2013, there’s a new Ducati Monster 795 that made its debut last night, now with the inclusion of ABS to mark its 20th anniversary of being in production.

The Italian motorcycle company practically created the ‘naked’ bike segment, having showcased the Monster at the Cologne Motorcycles Show in 1992, garnering much interest and support which transpired in it going into production in 1993.

After being in production for the last 20 years – having sold 250,000 units world-wide (over 900 in Malaysia alone), the Ducati Monster with a 795cc Desmodromic motor sitting within its bright red Trellis frame enters the fray nicely equipped with ABS.

Draped in your choice of either stealthy black or the usual spicy Ducati red, the Monster 795 ABS now costs RM4,988 extra over the standard non-ABS equipped Monster 795 for a price of RM66,888 (Nett). The Monster 795 ABS is also eligible for the Monster Art program and Logomania.

Other than raising the safety standard on the Monster 795 with the inclusion of ABS, the rest of the bike is still fundamentally the same with a seat height of just 770mm, while it rolls on a set of lightweight 3-spoke 17″ aluminium alloy wheels wrapped by 120/60 (front) and 160/60 (rear) Pirelli Angel ST rubbers which helps to keep its dry-weight down to a light 169kg.

Rear suspension still retains the usual Sachs mono-shock unit with progressive linkage to help provide a wide spectrum of both spring and damping settings. Also as standard, the Monster 795 ABS comes with a pair of 320mm (front) and a single 245mm (rear) Brembo floating disc-brakes. The front discs get gripped by a set of 4-piston radially mounted callipers while the rear gets a twin-piston calliper.

A digital unit displaying the speedometer, rev counter, time, scheduled maintenance warning, oil temperature, trip fuel, lap time, warning light for low oil pressure, fuel level, fuel reserve, neutral, turn signals, over-rev, immobilizer can still be had.

Performance is also unchanged, still utilizing the same legendary Desmodue air cooled, L-Twin engine with 87bhp at 8,250rpm and 80Nm of torque at 6,250rpm – along with that unmistakable Ducati sound emanating from its 795cc Desmodromic engine.

With the launch of the Monster 795 ABS, which coincides with the upcoming Chinese New Year celebrations, Ducati Malaysia is offering a spectacular Chinese New Year promotion that assures customers a low interest rate from 1.99% for up to 7 years. Time to ponder no more we say!
