McLaren Reveals Another Track-Only Toy, the MP4-12C GT Sprint

McLaren is doing its best to woo the consumers to their brand and although they do not have a diverse lineup, they are making the best out of what they got. Aimed for track enthusiasts who are searching for something not too wild but still gives out a punch, McLaren had recently unveiled another variant of the track-only 12C; the GT Sprint.

Although the GT Sprint is only allowed on the track, it is not as hardcore as the GT3 or the Can-Am Edition variants but is a close resemblance of what the road-going version could do with a couple of tweaks. The driver’s seating for instance is 40 millimetres lower, the rubbers wrapping the 19-inch centre-locking OZs are full Pirelli slicks and it is not slapped with a more robust cooling and aerodynamic package.

The twin turbocharged 3.8-liter V8 engine still produces 616-horsepower but is now equipped with a new and unique oil system. Coming in with the whole package are McLaren’s ProActive Chassis Control, Brake Steer and the iconic Airbrake, as well as three handling modes. And like all track-based car, it also has an FIA-approved roll cage and a fire extinguishing system.

The MP4-12C GT Sprint will be making its debut to the public at the upcoming Goodwood Festival of Speed. Priced below GBP 200,000 (RM 956,000), an initial batch of 20 units will be delivered in 2013.
