McLaren P13 to put Porsche’s 911 Turbo in their Sights!

While the world is still ogling their eyes on the fluidly shaped McLaren P1, the British auto marquee is trying to take the fight to Porsche with a new model soon to be unveiled. Dubbed as the P13, this latest model from McLaren will serve as a so-called entry level and has their sights locked on cars like the Porsche 911 Turbo.

Unlike the MP4-12C which is specifically aimed to take down cars like the Ferrari 458, the P13 will be sold in greater volumes and still have plenty of the UK automaker’s signature technologies. Rumoured to still be utilizing the same turbocharged 3.8-liter engine found in the 12C and the P1, the output will be brought down to the range of around 450-horsepower.

Porsche’s 911 Turbo lingers in the 500-horsepower range, and the 520 wild horses inhibiting the German stallion is no pushover too. However, the new McLaren will weigh less than 3,200lbs, giving it roughly 300-400lbs less weight than the Porsche. This way, McLaren is able to compensate their lack in output by giving it a reduced weight to achieve maximum performance.

This upcoming 911 Turbo-killer will also be priced in the same territory, which is around $150,000. Visual-wise, we have no idea of how the P13 will be taking shape, but word is saying that it will look like a scaled-down version of the P1.
