Infiniti launches their latest premium sports sedan at KLIMS – The all-new Q50 carries the company’s latest Q identity!

Determined to be amongst the big players of the premium brand here in Malaysia – Infiniti appears at the Kuala Lumpur International Motor Show for the very first time. Infinity is the sister company to Nissan which specialises in a much bespoke and luxurious iterations of the brand; just like what Lexus is to Toyota. Taking a leap into the near-future, the brand introduces their latest premium sports sedan today carrying their latest identity – the Q range.

The Infiniti Q50 is an all-new premium sports sedan, that carries the brand’s new design direction for the whole range of Infiniti cars. Powerful and distinctive, the Q50 design references both the brand’s sports saloon past and the iconic concept trilogy – Essence, Etherea and Emerg-e. Its designed with lower and wider proportions are set-up to give the car an athletic stance while the headlights evoke the shape similar to the human eye.

Powered by a 3.7-litre V6 petrol engine mated to a 7-speed automatic transmission – the Infiniti Q50 produces a rated output of 333bhp and 365nm. The torque is then put to the ground via Infinity’s AWD system dubbed as the Intelligent All-Wheel Drive which should keep the sports sedan planted on spirited drives and wet situations on the road.

Underlining its performance credentials, Infiniti formed an alliance with the Red Bull Racing Formula One team in partnership to share their innovative F1 technology to be transferred to Infinity’s road going cars. Central to the relationship is the appointment of four-time World Champion; Sebastian Vettel as the brand’s Director of Performance. According to Infiniti – Vettel has played an active role in the development of the Infinity Q50 and will continue to influence the characteristics of Infiniti’s future model line-up.

Marking another significant step in the brand’s plan to expand its presence in the premium automotive sector, Infiniti today announced details of a new nomenclature strategy to be applied to its complete product range beginning with the 2014 model year. The first model to carry Infiniti’s new badge will be the Q50 sports sedan, followed by the Q70 and QX70 accordingly next year.
