Future Toyota/Lexus Models Might Share LFA’s Carbon-Fiber Tech!

The price might be absurdly expensive and one could opt for a faster Italian supercar with the same price tag. But it did not take long for all the 500 units of the Lexus LFA to be sold to various customers from all over the world, admiring the perfection that this V10 supercar brings. And since Toyota has no plans in launching any variants for the LFA in the future, the executives over at Toyota Motor Corp are busting their heads in determining the fate of the costly LFA carbon-fiber factory.

But according to Automotive News, TMC are actually considering to continue running the plant and produce carbon-fiber parts for other models in both Toyota’s and Lexus’ lineup.  While the other models mentioned here will not be the much-rumored LFA Roadster or any new supercar from them, it might probably be seen adopted in their stunning LF-LC concept car or even the next-gen Supra.

The Lexus LFA’s body is mostly made by the lightweight material, and was produced at the carbon-fiber plant over at the Motomachi plant. And to run this plant is no easy feat as from the 170 workforce that Toyota has to construct the LFA, 100 of them are required for the carbon-fiber construction which requires tedious manual labor and hours to complete.

For the time being, the carbon-fiber plant is still operational but only to produce spare parts for the existing LFA units.
