Formula One is back to the Nurburgring in 2013!

Although the Nurburgring is known worldwide as one of the motoring havens available, this legendary circuit did not always see good times especially during last July when it was declared as bankrupt. And with this surprising announcement, the plans on having the German Grand Prix were anything but certain; which is not a good sign when the start of the 2013 Formula One is just six weeks away.

According to BBC Sport however, Bernie Ecclestone has reportedly struck a deal with the Nurburgring operators to make the race happen at this historical location. The German Grand Prix ran at alternate tracks, which was either on the Hockenheim circuit or the Nurburgring Grand Prix circuit. The 2012 race took place at Hockenheim, so Nurburgring will be the venue for 2013.

Since there was no final word on the race running at Nurburgring during its crisis days, Hockenheim had stepped into the scene, offering to host the 2013 race. This however had angered the AvD (Automotive Club of Germany) and they were adamant that the race could not be transferred to Hockenheim, thus generating the possibility of the race being cancelled altogether.

With the agreement done by Ecclestone and the Nurburgring, we might after all see Formula One cars zooming through the circuit where Ecclestone himself is fond to it.

“I treasure the Nurburgring and its history. In view of its long tradition, I was glad to support choosing Nurburgring as the venue for F1”.
