Damien Takes the Win for MSS Round 4, Proton R3 Dominates the Malaysian Touring Car Challenge!

With the weather being friendly to Sepang International Circuit over the weekend, Malaysian Super Series 2010 champion Damien Dielenberg charged on the 5.543 km circuit in grabbing his second crown for the series after finishing in the top spot for the Touring Production class in the recent Round 4.

Joining forces with Tommy Lee Bee Jun, a Sepang 12-Hour Malaysia Merdeka Endurance Race veteran, both of them managed to complete the 23 laps of the full Formula 1 lap in their Honda Integra DC5 race machine in the one-hour endurance showdown. Crossing the finish line ahead of their competitors, it had earned them 25 championship points.

“We are happy with the win today. It was a perfect race for us as the car just went well. We hope to continue this winning form in Round 5 as well”, said Damien, who had started the race in pole position and maintained the lead until the end of the race.

Coming in second was the duo of Alan Wong Hui Len and Chris Tan, claiming a spot on the podium in their Honda Civic FD2. Collecting 20 points from the win, they move to third in the championship with a total of 59 points.

Wing Hin Motorsports’ racer Kenny Lee Wan Yuen broke the Honda killing spree by finishing in third in his Toyota Altezza, completing also 23 laps but 1 minute 18.699 seconds behind the winner.

The Malaysian Touring Car Challenge running at the same time also saw its 2013 Champion being crowned, with Proton R3 dominating the top two spots on the podium. Their No.12 Proton Satria Neo piloted by Tengku Djan Ley and Syafiq Ali took the chequered flag, followed by James Veerapen and Masedenial Ali in the No.11 Proton Preve.

Lai Wee Sing, also racing in the Satria Neo finished in third while Tedco Racing’s Alvaro Mourato and Chunkie Chandra missed the podium by a hair’s breadth.

“Thanks to the team for their excellent support. We have a smooth race and I would need to thank my partner, Tengku Djan Ley for his contribution. He started the race and opened a 15-second lead when he handed the car to me. I just cruise to maintain the lead and preserve the car to the chequered flag”, said Syafiq Ali.

Hehe, don't underestimate Protons these days. It's true that they use modified IAFM 1.6 for the 3 podium winners.
A
