The Toyota 86 GRMN Sports FR Concept Platinum Finally Revealed

Remember the teaser images we have shown a while back of the Gazoo-prepared twin-charged Toyota 86? Dubbed as the GRMN Sports FR Concept Platinum, this wildly-looking concept car is finally unveiled at the 2013 Tokyo Auto Salon, with Gazoo throwing in some touches to fix the main concern that many people had addressed about the 86; the lack of power.

But the one that catches the attention, aside from being stuffed with both turbocharger and supercharger is the new looks it carries. The Concept gets a redesigned bumper, vented hood and also Koenigsegg-like headlights. The rear end also gets some new features like the diffuser, Supra-inspired taillights and a huge wing.

The interior also gets an array of necessary touches as a potentially aggressive car. A full role cage is fitted, alongside bucket seats with four-point seat belts, a race-spec steering wheel and a couple more extras.

This twin-charged system first made its public appearance at the 2012 Goodwood Festival, where the 2.0-liter Boxer engine’s output was pumped up to a massive 325-horsepower with 318 lb/ft of torque. The power is transferred to the rear via a 6-speed manual transmission. To wrap up the whole package, Gazoo Racing had also fiddled with the suspension and brakes to handle the power this Concept has.

Looks great except for the rear wing, a bit much. The front becomes similar to Mitsubishi FTO though.
