Peugeot 208 GTi Makes a Return in the UK!

Come April 2013, and the UK is set to receive the Peugeot 208 GTi, that’ll make its appearance in the guise of a 3-door hatchback, while it churns out 197bhp and 278Nm of torque from its force-induced 1.6L 4-potter that’s connected to a 6-seed manual transmission, certainly sounds like the same engine within the Peugeot RCZ.

To have this in the Malaysian market would certainly put the French brand into contention with the likes of the Polo GTi and fellow French-brand Renault and their Clio RS to name a few.

The 208 GTi will enter the fray armed with a century sprint time of just 6.8s, arriving at the 1,000m mark in about 27s before heading off to an unofficial top speed of 220kmh, while it sits generously endowed with 17″ alloy rims, LED DRLs (Daytime Running lights); all of which costing £18,895 in the UK.

Pocket rocket king, should dethrone the Polo GTI at least in straight line. But in terms of looks, the Polo is still nicer and probably the Clio RS too.
