Other than their own one-make Super Trofeo race series, Lamborghini had yet to officially make an appearance into the motorsports scene for quite some time. Things are about to change as Lamborghini is again teaming up with the Bull specialist, Reiter Engineering to prep up a new Gallardo GT3 to compete in both 2013 and 2014 racing series.

Dubbed as the Gallardo GT3 FL2, this new Lamborghini race machine is based on the recently revamped 2013 Gallardo model. Developed in cooperation with the company that had made numerous racing versions of Lamborghinis and bagged 199 victories and 350 podium finishes, the German-based Reiter Engineering is just the right guys to make the Bull a formidable weapon.

Since the focus of this new Gallardo race machine will be on endurance racing, the FL2 will be fitted with fade-resistance “24-hour” brakes, improved engine cooling and reduced fuel consumption. The aerodynamics also gets some new tweaking through a new front splitter, rear carbon diffuser and a highly-efficient aerokit. With carbon fiber being used extensively for the kit, the FL2 gets a weight reduction of 25kg compared to the previous Gallardo GT3.

“We are delighted to announce a minimum five-year agreement with Reiter Engineering as our exclusive development and supply partner for Lamborghini GT3 cars, based on Reiter’s strong engineering skills, passion and understanding of the Lamborghini brand, and of course, obvious race success”, said Stephan Winkelmann, President and CEO of Automobili Lamborghini.

“We are committed to supporting racing in Europe and Asia in 2013 with expansion to the USA in 2014”, he added.

The first deliveries of the Gallardo GT3 FL2 will commence in March to participating teams in the Lamborghini Blancpain Super Trofeo Endurance Series, the Italian GT3 Championship in Europe and the Asia Le Mans Series, and comes with a price tag of USD 430,000 (RM 1.33 million)
