Jaguar Bows to the UK Customers’ Demand and Produces 10 More XKR-S GT!

It is a bit off for a British marquee like Jaguar to come out with “the ultimate road-going XK”, and not allocating any of the limited-run 30 units for sale in the UK. Originally destined for the United States and Canada customers, Jaguar could not just ignore the requests from the UK and had finally decided to produce another 10 units of the extreme Jaguar XKR-S GT.

These additional 10 units built will be left-hand drive units, and the first deliveries to the UK customers will commence somewhere around October 2013. Unveiled at this year’s New York International Auto Show, the XKR-S GT had been vigorously tested on both road and track in both the U.S. and Germany. With a time of 7 minutes and 40 seconds, the XKR-S GT is Jaguar’s fastest road-legal car to have ever lapped the Nurburgring.

The car is powered by Jaguar’s own 5.0-liter V8 engine that churns out 542-horsepower and 680Nm of torque. With such power figures, zerotohundred is dealt in just 3.9 seconds and has an electrically limited top speed of 280 km/h. Sending the power to the rear is a six-speed automatic transmission with an active electronic differential.

Also one of the XKR-S GT’s main features has got to be the comprehensive aerodynamic package and suspension to increase downforce and optimizing high-speed cornering. The XKR-S GT is equipped with a carbon fiber front splitter, dive planes, extended wheelarch spats, a rear wing, rear diffuser, and an aluminium valance. All these total up to the car’s impressive maximum downforce of 145kg.
