BMW X5 Performance Edition – Mildly Refreshed by BMW Group Malaysia (RM588,800 OTR with BS+RI)

BMW Group Malaysia has just revealed their latest offering for their ever-popular Sports Activity Vehicle (SAV), the BMW X5, which sees them presenting it to the Malaysian masses with a “Performance Edition” tag.

The X5 first entered the Malaysian market back in 2007 and six years on, 665 units have been delivered to date; which means its about time it’s gotten another refresher in order to spruce up its appeal.

And refreshed it has, with a BMW M Aerodynamics package that sees it receiving a new front and rear bumper with Bi-Xenon Adaptive headlights and LED Corona Rings up front for some excellent illumination of a dimly lit road ahead, while you ride on a set of elegant-yet-sporty Double Spoke 20″ M Light Alloy rims to go about your business.

The X5 Performance Edition’s interior still maintains itself in standard guise, only it now receives an M Spofrt leather steering wheel with paddle-shifters and a BMW Individual Piano Black trim for a sportier appeal, especially, while you steal a moment to take a quick glance at the unobtrusive display being projected onto the windscreen that is the Heads-up Display (HUD – allowing you to visually check on your turn-by-turn navigation and to help keep your speed in check.

However, the BMW X5 and its proactive all-wheel xDrive System is available as standard and helps to keep you in control with its 40 (Front) – 60 (Rear) torque split when you decide to load up the suspension with some high-speed corners; causing the system to send 60% of its power to the rear in order to deliver a more precise steering feel and directional stability; working in unison with its Active Steering of course.

All that helps the driver manage that extra 14bhp churned out from its force-fed inline-6 petrol engine with Double VANOS, Valvetronic and BMW’s High Precision Injection system with an total output of 320bhp and 450Nm of torque to get you up to 100kmh in just 6.6s – an improvement of 0.2s over its BMW X5 xDrive35i sibling.

The BMW X5 Performance Edition only comes in two colours of either Alpine White or Carbon Black; both of which will be made available at all 16 authorised BMW dealerships across the nation by 30th March 2013 with an on-the-road price tag (without Insurance) of RM588,800.

This comes inclusive of the BMW Service + Repair Inclusive (BS+RI) that covers the normal wear and tear repairs or replacements as well as maintenance, service and repair of factory components for the vehicle over a 3 years from its original registration date or 60,000km, whichever comes first.
