A charitable weekend with Blue Jackets – a helping hand for the kids of Tasputra Perkim

If you’ve heard of Blue Jackets – then you would have probably encountered them at some point, with their entourage of dream car selections from their fraternity members. And when it comes to driving hard, leave it to the frats as they know the subject like the back of their hands. They’ve covered thousands of miles across states and countries, getting to know their million bucks dream machines and enjoying them to the fullest. Work hard, play hard.

But when the bell rings to help the underprivileged – they will be the first to step in and give a helping hand. So when Tasputra Perkim called for the presence of the fraternity at their fund raiser.. the whole clan came at full force to raise funds for the kids who were in need.

A little history about Tasputra Perkim – started in November 1987, the centre is Malaysia’s first Muslim day care centre for special needs children. Tasputra is dedicated and committed to the love and care of special children who are physically, visually and mentally disabled, providing for the children between the ages of 2 to 18 years old. As of now, there are over 50 children attending Tasputra, with an average operating cost of RM 32,000 per month. The government grant of only RM 19,000 per year will not suffice – hence the centre is purely run under donations and fundraising.

Every little help counts for the centre, and to raise some funds, the fraternity has offered to help – Blue Jackets style. For a trivial fee of RM20, the frats would take the charitable citizens for a dream ride in their supercar of choice. With over 30 cars to choose from and 18,000 horsepowers ready to roll, the line started piling up. From the likes of the Lamborghini Aventador and an MTM Supercharged R8, the ride would take them roughly 10KMs, starting from the centre, weaving through a little bit of traffic and on to the Ampang-KL Elevated Highway (AKLEH), with the view of the city skyline and where these raging cars could open the taps a little.

The morning began with a gloomy weather, which later on turned into rain – but it did not stop the Fratinitas from giving the underprivileged kids a ride of their lifetime. As the people lined up in the wet, so did the cars.. and it continued for a good 4 hours until the rain eventually stopped.

As the rain stopped, and the day came to an end – the cars and frats sat down to see how much fund they have managed to raise from the Supercar rides and merchandise sales. Well… with the success of the rides given out, the frats managed to raise a whopping amount of RM8,163 for the centre. On top of that, the charity box collection and cup cake sales managed to raise a rough amount RM2000 making the total funds raise to RM 10,163.

With these funds raise, the centre hopes to sail on and dedicate themselves to give the children the best possible. We at Zerotohundred.com would like to congratulate Blue Jackets for their efforts and success on raising the funds for Tasputra Perkim – and despite the bad weather, the event went smoothly.

Would like to ride in a Supercar? Well keep your ears up and eyes open for the next fund raiser with Blue Jackets!
