24-Year-Old Miguel Faisca is crowned as 2013 Nissan GT Academy Champion!

The Nissan GT Academy is well-known to have picked fresh and young hopefuls and boost them up to a higher stage where they could put their outstanding skills in Gran Turismo into the real world. And the next lucky person that is going to live the dream as a professional racing driver is 24-year-old Miguel Faisca.

Declared as the champion of the 2013 GT Academy for Europe, the student from Portugal had proven to Nissan that he is not only fast on Gran Turismo, but is also as good in the real Nismo sportscars on Silverstone. Miguel will soon undertake an intensive Driver Development Programme to prepare him for a full season’s racing next year in a Nissan GT-R Nismo GT3.

The young lad has proven to be superior than the other 765,000 contestants from all over Europe. And from that massive number, 42 of them were selected and brought to the Silverstone Circuit for the real world test.

Miguel was obviously very happy and also is disbelieve to have been picked as the winner of the 2013 GT Academy. “I didn’t expect to win this morning. I don’t think I was one of the favourites. But I was feeling good with the car and the track and I quite like the rain conditions. I didn’t get a good start and I was second. Once I got into the lead it was very difficult to keep it, but I am so happy.”

“This is the start. It is going to be very hard work, but I can’t wait to get going. Thanks to Nissan and PlayStation for this opportunity. It is fantastic to be the first Portugese winner”, he added.
