Bluebird Jumps from Breaking Speed Records to Making Electric Sports Cars?

The name Bluebird is synonymous to incredible speed records, just like how the Bugatti Veyron is with its immense top speed. But after setting numerous records on both land and water, Bluebird is now venturing into new territory and is looking forward to produce a limited run of electric sports car and a new electric race car.

Set to debut at the England’s Sustainable MotoExpo on September 28, Bluebird will be revealing their DC50 electric sports car in flesh. Only 50 of such specimen will be made to commemorate the 50th anniversary of Donald Campbell’s land and water speed records in 2014.

The car comes with an electric drivetrain that will deliver up to 360-horsepower and an “acceleration to match a Porsche”. This two door model also comes with electrically-operated scissor doors and a driving range up to 320km. It will only be offered exclusively in the Bluebird hue.

Another model to be launched simultaneously at the event is another Bluebird speed machine called the GTL electric race car. Bluebird had specifically designed the car to meet the latest technical regulations for the forthcoming FIA Formula E that kicks start next year. More details on these two electrifying machines will be revealed later in September.
