Zagato Joins Aston Martin’s Centenary Celebration with Two Special Edition Models

The Italian design house Zagato has always been associated in producing special versions of Aston Martin’s handsome cars. And since they are intimately linked for more than half a century, it is not a surprise from them to come out with a new Aston Martin Zagato creation for their Centenary celebration recently.

Building only two of such specimens, one of these special models is based on the 2013 DB9 Volante and destined for a customer in the US, while the other is based on a 2013 DBS Coupe. The DB9 Spyder Zagato Centennial belongs to Peter Read, an American car collector which is also a longtime enthusiast of Aston Martin. The DBS Coupe Zagato Centennialon the other hand will be heading to Japan.

The design of the new Zagatos were inspired from the 2002 DB7 Zagato, which was so popular back then that the 99 units allocated for sale were sold out even before it made its debut at the Paris Auto Show the same year. And like the DB7 Zagato, these two new Zagatos were designed by Andrea and Marella Zagato and Read himself.

“The DB9 Spyder Zagato Centennial perfectly merges Aston Martin and Zagato’s DNA by combining the elegance of design, typical of Zagato, with the soul, power and prestige of Aston Martin, all developed over the last 100 years”, said Read.

Under the hood however remains unchanged as it still houses the 6.0-liter V12 engine producing around 510-horsepower.
