Toyota might be a bit indecisive on what to do next with their hot FR machine, the 86. While some concepts like the twin-charged Gazoo Racing Sport FR and the FT-86 Open Concept are really something to drool over, their decision of abandoning such plans as they were “deemed too expensive for their limited volumes” sure is a turn off. But it seems that the Japanese company still has a soft spot on these concepts.
At the upcoming 2013 Tokyo Motor Show, Toyota will once again put the FT-86 Open Concept on display but this time in a more seductive shade. The drop top 86 will be borrowing the coupe’s “Flash Red” body hue along with a re-colored interior.
And unlike the one that made an appearance in Geneva, this red 86 will come in a right-hand drive configuration and an automatic, instead of a manual. Once again, there is no definite word from Toyota that they will be producing a drop top version of this highly anticipated FR machine, especially when they said that this concept was “created to explore future sports car variations”.
