Proton Preve Receives 5-Star ANCAP Rating!

Proton has recently announced that their Proton Prevé has managed to be awarded a 5-Star rating by the Australasian New Car Assessment Programme (ANCAP) after it had completed three crash tests that included a frontal offset, side and pole impacts; all of which were conducted by an independent laboratory in Australia in order to determine the safety levels of the Prevé.

The tests conducted are similar to that of Euro NCAP, to which Proton can now be rather proud in joining the ranks of other manufacturers who have such a rating, albeit from ANCAP – but nonetheless a great leap forward from the days of the Waja that managed a Euro NCAP 3-star rating.

This marks Proton’s first achievement, a technological first if you will, where all Proton Prevé units produced for domestic and export markets utilizes Hot Press Forming (HPF), which helps to provide better protection and higher body and structural rigidity without compromising the overall bodyweight of the car.

Dato’ Sri Haji Mohd Khamil, in a recent statement said that their latest development also came with perfect timing since Prevé is now being made available within the Australian market following their latest achievement.

The Proton Prevé is priced from RM72,990 on-the-road (Peninsular Malaysia) for the Premium variant, RM62,990 for the Executive CVT and RM59,990 for the Executive with a manual transmission.

Six colour choices are available which includes Fire Red, Blue Lagoon, Tranquility Black, Solid White, Genetic Silver and Elegant Brown.

Apart from Australia, the Prevé is currently being sold in Thailand and Brunei

It's worth mentioning that the Aussie variant has 6 air bags, traction control and a few other obligatory things that the M'sian variant doesn't have. So is it really a fair blanket statement to say the Preve is ANCAP 5-star?

Yes, Preve is still ANCAP 5-star car..

However, Proton in Malaysia can't use it for advertisement or certification purpose..

Imagine the pricing if the export model were to be sold in Malaysia.
