Prefer a Karma More with a ZR1 V8 Underneath? Then Say Hello to the Destino

Interested in a Fisker Karma, but thinking that the fancy hybrid propulsion is not really your thing? Wishing that it could actually have the grunt and looks to be at the same level as the supercar sedans of the Aston Martin Rapide or the Maserati Quattroporte? Those worries could actually be put aside as an auto company called VL Automotive had given the Karma of what it is missing out by fitting it with a massive V8 engine.

You heard it right. It seems that Gilbert Villereal and Bob Lutz thinks that this babe deserves more than a 2.0-liter engine and electric motors, and had blessed the Karma with the power from a supercharged LS9 lifted from the Chevrolet Corvette ZR1. This gives the Karma 638-horsepower propelling the rear wheels, through either an automatic or manual transmission!

And the changes are not limited to only under the hood as they had also given it some styling changes to give some facial differences between the gas-guzzler and the tree-hugger. Called the ‘Destino’, it gets a redesigned look for both front and rear. Both the exhaust tips and raised hood are also necessary to accommodate the beast that lies within.

Built at VL Automotive’s headquarters in Auburn Hills, Michigan, the Destino will hit the market very soon with a price tag of USD 180,000 (RM 544,000). Do you think this is a worthy contender to the Panameras and Rapides we see rolling on the streets today?
