Polish Man creates his own McLaren F1 from scratch!

It’s been a while since we have last seen a proper car replica that resembles closely to its original version, and we think that this replica project is definitely time well spent. Back in 2011, Top Gear fan Jacek Mazur embarked in a journey to build his dream car, the McLaren F1, from scratch. Obviously it was no easy task to undertake but after eight years of hard work and determination, finally the Polish amateur mechanic has finished his ambitious project.

Of course, if one were to take a close and thorough inspection on the car, the true identity of this car will instantly be revealed. But in a quick peek, Mazur’s F1 replica has almost everything in check. The overall looks, a center-mounted seat, and even a powerful engine that could take the car to speeds of almost 200mph!

To source the original BMW V12 is almost impossible, so this F1 is powered by a V8 engine from Audi. The power plant is mounted to a custom tubular steel chassis and the rest of the car is finished using mostly scrap parts. As a prime example, the brakes on this replica F1 is obtained from an old Mercedes-Benz.

In total, Mazur had spent about $ 32,800, which is about RM 108,108. Although that may sound much, it is just a fraction of what the real F1 could fetch in today’s market. There are only 72 road-legal versions of the F1 produced by McLaren, and eight of them are super-rare special editions.

This replica F1 is not Mazur’s first project as he had also made a number of other replicas like the Lamborghini Countach and the Porsche 911.
