BMW knights the 7-series with an M-badge for the first time ever – Could this be the beginning of a hot 7-series?

In the history of the BMW 7-series, it has never received the haloed M-badge that the rest of the models has been christened with. Although questions had always arise on the fact that the brand’s competitor from Mercedes and Audi are conquering the market with their hot top-of-the-range flagship model with an AMG and S treatment; BMW never showed a single hint of a hot 7-series.. until now!

Its called the 760Li V12 M Bi-Turbo and it is a limited edition of the hottest 7-series the brand makes. As fancy as it sounds – it isn’t an all-new car with a massive M-tuned engine strapped to the chassis which is disappointing. The real reason why it carries an M-badge is because the limited edition offers M-exclusive colours and trim on the 760Li that usually doesn’t make it on the flagship model.

It was presented recently at a fashion expo and that the V12 M Bi-Turbo will only be available exclusively in Saudi Arabia through Mohamed Yousef Naghi Motors BMW Dealership. Yes, it is a limited edition model however BMW has not stated how many units of their ‘hot’ 7-series will be made. It is not surprising that this limited run model is sold in Saudi Arabia to test the response of the market from a M-badged 7-series and that the bulk of the sales should be coming from here and China respectively.

The 760Li heart remains unchanged with the 6.0-litre twin-turbocharged V12 that produces 536bhp and 750nm on taps. Although that power output rated is still lower than the current M V8 engine – the 760Li will still push a Zerotohundred time of 4.6 seconds in luxury and comfort. With the M limited edition series, customers will be able to spec up 8 M-exclusive colours on the 7-series, matched with lightweight 20-inch wheels and M-Sport package trims on the exterior as well. At the same time, the interior features full Nappa leather seats with contrast stitching, piano black and ceramic trims and M badges to remind you that it isn’t a standard 7-series.

What interest us in the 760Li V12 M is the fact that – there is a possibility that BMW is paving way to produce a model in the lines of ‘M7’ that we all have been waiting to see all this while. There has been rumours flowing through the grapevine and if it is true, we can expect to see a hot 7-series in 2014! Are you as excited as we are?
