Audi Fielding the RS5 for the 2013 DTM!

With hopes to draw the championship’s crown away from the other competitors, Audi had recently unveiled its latest machine in conquering the Deutsche Tourenwagen Masters or DTM, at Geneva. Replacing last year’s A5 DTM racer is the all-new and non-compromising 2013 RS 5 DTM.

A number of eight Audi RS 5 DTMs will be competing in the upcoming season, handled by three established Audi Sports squads of Abt Sportsline, Phoenix and Rosberg. The RS 5 DTM carries a 4.0-liter V8 engine that produces 500-horsepower, and will make its first public debut at the DTM testing sessions on April 26. The car will then appear on the following 10 race events taking place in Germany, Austria, Great Britain, Netherlands and Russia.

“The performance data of the current RS 5 and RS 5 DTM are very similar. Motorsports is an integral part of the Audi DNA and is not an end itself for our company”, said Dr. Wolfgang Ullrich, the Head of Audi Motorsports.

“At the end of the day, our customers benefit from the victories on the racetracks, because we attach great value to technology transfer between motorsport and production”, he added.

The 2013 DTM championship will kick start on May 5, with its first destination being at Hockenheim, Germany.
