Alpina B3 Bi-Turbo (F30) Now Comes with 410bhp but is 20% More Fuel-Efficient!

German tuner, Alpina, known for their BMW specialties have got themselves some new information to reveal, regarding  their upcoming 3rd generation B3 that’s due to take a bow at the upcoming Geneva Motorshow.

Always looking to harmoniously set up their BMW, it seems they’ve adjusted their thoughts and taken on a little of Hartge’s approach in cramming in a lot more ponies under the hood than usual. But when you’re presented with a force-fed inline-6; eyes do tend to widen a little more than usual rather than having the usual naturally aspirated mill that they’ve been used to ever since they set-up shop.

With the new BMW 3-Series (F30) that comes with a 3.0L turbocharged heart, Alpina has graciously bumped the output to 410bhp, accessible from 5,500rpm till 7,000rpm, while mated to an 8-speed ZF transmission. It now gallops to 100kmh in just 4 seconds.

Although there’s a hike in power output over the standard 3.0L’s 306bhp inline-6, it usual comes with an expectation that fuel efficiency would take a drastic hit, especially with with an additional 104 ponies to contend with. Apparently not it seems, with the Alpina B3 Bi-Turbo now boasting a 20% improvement in terms of fuel efficiency and the company proudly announcing that it’s capable of achieving 7.9L/100km.

Wunderbar!
