UMW Toyota Motor Takes Part in IGEM 2012!

UMW Toyota recently participated in the 3rd International Greentech & Eco Products Exhibition and Conference Malaysia (IGEM), where they placed on display their world’s most popular Hybrid vehicles – namely the PRIUS c as well as the 3rd generation and newly improved Toyota PRIUS, at the three day conference that was held from the 10th – 13th October 2012 at the Kuala Lumpur Convention Centre.

The IGEM 2012 was themed “Greentech for Growth” and is aimed at the rapid adoption of green technology in order to help deliver a two-pronged approach on sustainable economic growth along with addressing the issues of environmental and energy security.

In light of this, UMW Toyota Motor showed their support for Toyota’s Global Vision commitment to lead the way forward towards the future of mobility by enriching lives around the world, whilst showing their respect towards Mother Earth by using the most responsible ways of moving people.

UMW’s participation in the international exhibition was to showcase and create public awareness for consumers on Toyota’s Full Hybrid System technology that’s fully in support of the Malaysian Government’s positive stance on the environment.

This helps provide the opportunity for visitors to be better educated about how Toyota’s Hybrid System technology, the workings and benefits can help reduce the degradation of the environment by displaying the related information on display panels that showcased their videos.

With efforts by Toyota in the 1990s to create a practical “Eco Car”, Toyota came up with the Toyota Hybrid System (THS) that combined a petrol engine with an electric motor that didn’t require external charging. And this is what both the PRIUS and the PRIUS c utilize, which is intelligent enough to either run independently (petrol or electric) or on a combination of both.

In 2009, the 3rd generation PRIUS had finally graced our shores here in Malaysia and has sold almost 4,000 units of the PRIUS alone and more than 2,100 units of the PRIUS c.

The IGEM 2012 brings the dynamism of renewable energy, energy efficiency and green transportation for adoption and start-ups, while providing an essential platform to launch, feature and showcase innovative eco-products, green technologies and services. It was indeed a must-attend event for green product buyers and sellers to interact, transact and forge new partnerships and cross border collaboration.
