Toyota Recalls 7.4 million Units Worldwide, Malaysia Included

7.4 million. No, that is not the price tag for any of the new Lamborghini or Pagani supercar. But for the time being, this massive amount is the number of models that Toyota is recalling worldwide that could possibly bear a malfunction on their power window systems.

Just 3 million short of the massive recall that Toyota had once made back in 2010, this 2012 recall is not that much of a serious problem compared to the aforementioned where 10 million units were recalled due to issues such as sticky accelerator pedals and braking problems. From the overall amount of 7.4 million, 2.5 million are from the U.S., 1.4 million in China and 1.4 million in Europe.

Malaysia is not excluded from the list as 63,083 units sold by UMW Toyota Motor are also included in this recall, which involves the Camry, Corolla Altis, Vios, RAV4 and Yaris made between 2006 to 2010. Those that are affected by the recall should not be worrying too much as the worst of what the problem could bring is just a sticky feeling while operating the power window, where this issue will be rectified by Toyota through a simple application of specialized grease for the Power Window Master Switch. Though it might sound easy, it is not advised to do the repairs on your own with any off-the-shelve grease.

If you are in the affected list, UMW Toyota will be in contact in order to carry out the repairs and will take about one hour the most with no charge applied. For more information regarding on this issue, Toyota is ready to help through their toll-free line at 1800-8-TOYOTA (869682).
