Mercedes Debuts their SLS AMG GT3 45th Anniversary Edition

The Mercedes specialists over at AMG have always managed to come up with some amazing creations, giving a serious growl into what the German car manufacturer had rolled out from their factories. And to commemorate their 45th birthday, the official Mercedes tuner is celebrating it with the birth of a special edition SLS AMG GT3 and in short, it looks awesomely sinister.

Sporting a stealthy Designo Magno Graphite matte finish, this unique paint job goes down all the way to the wheels. Bearing a “45 Years of Driving Performance” logo on the outside, one could not overlook the fancy aero works of the massive GT wing and canards installed on the car, all left unpainted to reveal the clean carbon fiber weave texture.

By now, you should have guessed that with such a ride height, fancy aero and from the “GT3” moniker, this special edition is bound to live on the tracks only. But this is nonetheless a great track car. It will still be powered by the same 6.2-liter V8 engine, where DTM-winning brand ambassador Bernd Schneider will personally be assisting in the installation process.

On the inside, the roll cage also receives the same paint treatment as the exterior, other than the carbon fiber finish on the dashboard and silver seatbelt and steering wheel center. And like most special edition models, a badge is fitted on the center stack, reading “1 of 5”.

Price for this only-five-in-the-world SLS AMG GT3 starts at around $578,530 (RM1.78 million), and although that is quite a hefty price tag, this is a great machine to behold. Hopefully all five of this special edition gets to live their lives on the tracks rather than being kept as a garage queen.
