Mercedes-Benz CLS 63 AMG Shooting Brake – With 557bhp and 800Nm!

Mercedes-Benz is proud to present their CLS 63 AMG Shooting Brake that will see this 1,550 litres of rear-end space in a wagon emerge from AMG fully equipped with a 5.5L twin-turbo V8 possessing 525bhp and 700Nm of torque that’s mated to an AMG SPEEDSHIFT MCT 7-speed sports transmission.

However, AMG has also provided their Shooting Brake with an upgrade option that they’re calling ‘Edition 1’, which sees power and torque levels increased by 32bhp and 100Nm respectively, finally resting at 557bhp and 800Nm of torque that’s capable of sprinting to 100kmh in just 4.3s and on to an electronically limited top speed of 250kmh.

There’s a host of electronic choices for the driver to choose from within the comfortable and spacious confines of the Shooting Brake. With 4 driving modes to choose from, which will see the AMG SPEEDSHIFT MCT 7-speed sports transmission allowing the driver to pick the response levels of the transmission (including RACE START functions) with “Controlled Efficiency” ( C ) mode – allowing the ECO start / stop function to be fully enabled at all times to help shut down the V8 when at standstill and then there’s “Sport” ( S ) mode, “Sport plus” ( S+) and “M” (Manual) modes that will dial-up the response times of the transmission.

To help handle all that grunt, AMG has provided it with their AMG RIDE CONTROL sports suspension, which manages the steel suspension struts on the front axle as well as the rear axle’s air suspension struts by automatically keeping it levelled as it electronically controls the damping system with the driver able to select “Comfort”, “Sport” and “Sport+” to help keep it on the road when aggressively hurled around bends.

To help keep all that explosive power in check, AMG has outfitted the Shooting Brake with 360mm ventilated and perforated discs all around, with an option to upgrade to an AMG high performance ceramic composite braking system, which will be engulfed by a set of 19” triple-spoke designed AMG light-alloys wrapped by front: 255/35 and rear: 285/30 tyres.

The Mercesed-Benz CLS63 AMG Shooting Brake should be unveiled in October 2012!
