Hyundai Sending Their Armored Limo for the 2012 Moscow Motor Show

Based on the numerous clips that we have seen coming from the country filled with avid lovers of dashcams, the Russians do have to deal with a harsh driving condition during their daily commute. Whether it is the road itself or some gun-wielding, mafia-related gang members, it is a challenge just to get from point A to point B especially for VIPs or high-ranking personnel.

Realizing a potential market for luxurious, well-armored cars, Hyundai has made a unique collaboration with ArmorTech in developing an armored limousine variant of its Equus sedan. This buffed-up Equus will make its way to the 2012 Moscow International Automobile Salon for its European debut, and will be manufactured in cooperation with Stoof International, based out of Germany.

Like other armored limousines, this armored Equus will feature ballistic and blast protection that forms an armored shell and protect the occupants from ballistic penetrations from any angle. And since the armor upgrade has increased the car’s weight to a hogging 3.8 tonnes, it will be powered by a 5.0-liter V8 Tau engine with an output of 430-horsepower and 375 lb-ft of torque.

The armor upgrades that the Hyundai Equus Limousine Security received is fully compliant with the VR7 protection level which generally offers protection against common assault weapons, and could be fitted with all the additional extras available on the standard Equus model.
